There was quite a lot of losing on the farm last night, but there’s still plenty worth reading about: Las Vegas 4, Tacoma 1Jacob deGrom gave up 1 run on just 3 hits over 7 innings, walking 1 and striking out 4.  After 3 starts in AAA, deGrom’s ERA is 0.96; his walks and strikeouts aren’t quite what they should be just yet, but his improvement from his first few AA starts has been quite impressive.  Wilmer Flores was 1 for 4 with a walk and 2-run homer, his 10th of the year and 6th in June.  Ike Davis was 1 for 2 with a strikeout before getting ejected, forcing pitcher D.J. Mitchell to play right field, which is odd because Mike Baxter wasn’t in the starting lineup and should have been available.  Rylan Sandoval, Brian Bixler, Brandon Hicks, and Jamie Hoffman had 2 hits each. Trenton 4, Binghamton 2 (Game 1, 7 innings)Logan Verrett look the loss after giving up 4 runs on 6 hits over 6.2 innings, walking none and striking out 5.  Pedro Feliciano struck out the only batter he faced.  Danny Muno and Josh Rodriguez homered.  Travis Taijeron was 2 for 3.  Cesar Puello was 0 for 4 with a strikeout. Binghamton 4, Trenton 3 (Game 2, 7 innings)Mark Cohoon struck out 5 in 5 innings, allowing 3 runs.  Chase Huchingson and Jeff Walters each threw a scoreless inning in relief.  Cesar Puello was 2 for 3 with a double and RBI. Fort Myers 12, St. Lucie 2Alex Panteliodis got knocked around for 8 runs in 3.2 innings.  Tim Byrdak made an appearance but didn’t fair well, giving up 2 runs (1 earned) on 2 hits with 1 walk and 1 strikeout in .2 innings.  Matt den Dekker was 3 for 4, but left for a pinch runner in the 8th, which is odd. Rome 6, Savannah 2Steven Matz let up 3 runs (2 earned) over 8 innings, allowing just 4 hits and a walk while striking out 5, but he took the loss, as the Gnats managed just 2 hits.  Brandon Nimmo was 1 for 3 with a walk and strikeout. Hudson Valley 9, Brooklyn 0Dario Alvarez let up 5 runs on 5 hits and 4 walks over 4.2 innings, although he did strike out 5.  Juan Urbina walked 3 and gave up 1 run on 2 hits over 1.1 innings.  Gavin Cecchini was 3 for 4 with a double. Kingsport 5, Elizabethton 4Carlos Gomez threw 6.2 scoreless innings, but struck out just 2.  Flabio Ortega ended up with the win after pitching 1.2 scoreless innings in relief.  Jonathan Leroux and Pedro Perez both had 2 hits, including a double.  Jeff Diehl and Jeyckol De Leon both doubled as well. GCL Nationals 5, GCL Mets 4Jenrry Mejia started and gave up 2 unearned runs on 3 hits and a walk through 1.2 innings.  Ivan Wilson and Branden Kaupe had 2 hits each.  Vicente Lupo hit a solo homer, but is still hitting just .182.  Ruben Tejada was 0 for 3 with 2 strikeouts.  Dominic Smith and Wuilmer Becerra were both 0 for 4. DSL Yankees1 8, DSL Mets1 4Luis Ortega was 4 for 5 with a double.  Miguel Patino and John Mora had 2 hits each. DSL Rangers 2, DSL Mets2 119-year old lefty Kevin Canelon threw 6 shutout innings.  Alvin Maracaro was 3 for 4.
