In case you’re just joining us, the Mets have some good pitchers in the minor leagues, as they threw 2 shutouts last night. Let’s explore: Nashville 4, Las Vegas 2Jacob deGrom took the loss, allowing 4 runs on 9 hits over 6 innings, walking 2 and striking out 4. Mike Baxter and Wilmer Flores had 2 hits each. Ruben Tejada was 0 for 5. This game was all but over by the time David Wright pulled his hamstring, so there was no way of knowing if anybody got “the call”. I’ll say this: Flores is a possibility, because he’s played 3B in the past, but not a lot this season, but if David hits the DL, Zach Lutz should be the one called up, or else why have you kept him on the 40-man roster all this time? Binghamton 3, Harrisburg 0Greg Peavey took a no-hitter into the 6th inning, and ended up allowing just the 1 hit and 2 walks while striking out 6 in 6 innings. Surprise, surprise, Jeff Walters pitched a scoreless 9th to get the save. Danny Muno and Allan Dykstra had 2 hits each. Travis Taijeron doubled and drove in a run. No Cesar Puello for the second straight game, as he is reportedly in the midst of working out a deal for his connection to the Biogenesis scandal. St. Lucie 4, Clearwater 0Alex Panteliodis struck out 6 in 6.1 shutout innings. Bret Mitchell and Hamilton Bennett combined for the final 8 outs, striking out 5. Lucas Duda was 3 for 3 with a homer and 3 RBI’s. Kyle Johnson, Kevin Plawecki, and Jayce Boyd had 2 hits each. Plawecki doubled and drove in a run. Savannah 9, Greenville 4Matt Koch got hit in the head by a line drive in the second inning. Julian Hilario pitched 4 innings and got the win despite allowing 3 runs on 6 hits. Shawn Teufel got the final 4 outs for the save. Albert Cordero had 3 hits. Jeff Reynolds and Jorge Rivero had 2 hits. Brandon Nimmo was hitless (0 for 1), but he walked 4 times and drove in 2 runs. Brian Harrison also drove in 2 runs. Brooklyn 8, Jamestown 1Miller Diaz struck out 8 in 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits and 2 walks. Kevin McGowan threw 3 scoreless innings to get the save. Patrick Biondi was 4 for 5 with a triple. Jared King was 1 for 5 with a double and 4 RBI’s. L.J. Mazzilli also doubled. Alex Sanchez had 3 hits. Gavin Cecchini was 1 for 5 with 1 RBI, but he was moved down to the 7th spot after batting 2nd most of the season. Johnson City 11, Kingsport 3Andrew Massie let up 4 runs in 4.2 innings. Alberto Baldonado let up 6 more runs in 3.1 innings. Victor Cruzado was 2 for 3 with a triple. Champ Stuart also tripled. Jeyckol De Leon was 2 for 3 with a homer. GCL Nationals 9, GCL Mets 3Andrew Church started, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 4 hits over 4 innings, with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. Dan Hermann and Cameron Griffin also gave up 3 runs each. Luis Guillorme was 2 for 5. Dom Smith, Vicente Lupo, and Branden Kaupe were among the players that hit a single.
